COMPOSITION
Good knowledge of music theory is not enough to understand how chords work together or rhythmical patterns can make a huge difference in style. These are only a couple of points we could help you with, but there is more. Beginners and Advanced players alike could benefit from studying composition as a complement to their musical instrument. Others that could find this useful are "self taught" musicians or those who use computer programmes to create their own compositions.
Our Tutors will be glad to assist you in organising your musical ideas and discover the pleasure of composing your own song in the style that you prefer.
Composition & Improvisation
How we can assist you in:
IMPROVISATION
Especially useful in Jazz, improvisation can be described as composing on the spot! This does not mean that forethought is not involved. Far from it, improvisation takes practice and it is built upon musical patterns and structures that need to be learned. Once that is achieved you will be able to give sound to your feelings and to pass that on to whoever is listening... without needing sheet music! The same applies if you like to play in a band or ensemble.
Examination boards include Jazz grades where improvisation is required. Our Tutors will be glad to assist you in developing your abilities and creativity in whatever style you would like to improvise on.
